Saint Catherine of Siena loved to say in the silence of her soul: "I am sought, I am loved." That is what is true.

Some beginners, too, make light of their faults, and at other times indulge in immoderate grief when they commit them. They thought themselves already saints, and so they become angry and impatient with themselves, which is another great imperfection.

There is such a need to mortify the intellect, the memory, and the exterior senses, so that they become almost spiritual, and then united to the soul they find in God alone their nourishment and their consolation, and they can say: "My heart and my flesh have exulted in the living God."

The Three Persons delight to contemplate their beauty in a soul and they are thus drawn to fill it more completely and they lavish still more gifts upon it so as to accomplish the great mystery of love and unity.

Love is stronger than hatred. In the end there will be only the fullness of love... If we accept the whole Christ in faithful self-giving, by choosing and walking in the way of the imitation of Christ, then he will lead us through his Passion and Cross to the glory of the Resurrection.

Our faith is so dead that we desire what we see more than what faith tells us.

Whoever lives in the presence of so good a friend and excellent a leader as is Jesus Christ can endure all things. Christ helps us and strengthens us and never fails; he is a true friend...What more do we desire from such a good friend at our side, who will not abandon us in our labors and tribulations, as friends in the world do. Blessed is the one who truly loves him and keeps him near.

Our Rule is the Cross, and the three Promises the nails that fasten us to it.

Why fear to offer yourself as a victim to God's Merciful Love? If it were to His Divine Justice you might have reason to fear, but the Merciful Love will have pity on your weakness and will treat you with tenderest mercy.

And I saw a river over which every soul must pass to reach the Kingdom of Heaven, and the name of that river was suffering...and then I saw a boat which carried souls across the river, and the name of the boat was Love.

The insight of the most skilled doctors can't compare to that of a mother's heart.

The fact that God deals with us through messengers is not a sign of the unapproachable majesty of God, rather of His overflowing love.
