Do not let your weakness make you unhappy. When, in the morning, we feel no courage or strength for the practice of virtue, it is really a grace: it is the time to 'lay the axe to the root of the trees,' (Matt. 3:10) relying upon Jesus alone.

I have only to love Him, to let myself be loved, all of the time: to wake in Love, to move in Love, to sleep in Love, my soul in His Soul, my heart in His Heart, so that through contact with Him, He purifies me, and delivers me from my misery.

We should not be disturbed, whatever the circumstances in which God places us, but let us allow Him to act, uniting ourselves to His intentions; in this way we will love with pureness of love.

Let Your divinity shine on my intellect by giving it divine knowledge, and on my will by imparting to it the divine love and on my memory with the divine possession of glory.

Wherefore Our Savior said in the Gospel: ‘That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.’ That is to say, the love which is born of sensuality ends in sensuality, and that which is of the spirit ends in the spirit of God and causes it to grow. A work done without a feeling of pleasure is more pleasing to God than many others done with great delight and feeling. Therefore, when you find yourself in a state of dryness and depression, be glad and exult that God has deigned to give you those greater gifts and sweetest viands that He is wont to offer to those who are dearer to Him and more beloved by Him.

In order to reach the ideal life of the soul, I believe we must live in the realm of the supernatural and be persuaded that God dwells in our innermost being, and go to everything with Him. Then nothing can be trivial, no matter how commonplace in itself, for we do not live in those things, but soar above them.

...some books on prayer tell us where one must seek God. Within oneself, very clearly, is the best place to look.

Here there is no more to do than surrender our intellects and reflect that they are of no avail when it comes to understanding the grandeurs of God.

Do all for love of Him. Don't seek the approval of creatures. They are so mistaken in their judgments. In the meantime, at every moment God understands you as though you were the only creature in existence.

Therefore we need not let ourselves be disturbed, nor give up prayer, as the devil is striving to persuade us. As a rule, all our anxieties and troubles come from misunderstanding our own nature.

Do not yield to hatred. We are here in a dark tunnel but we have to go on. At the end, an eternal light is shining for us.
