Let us quicken our faith by constant communing with Him. Let us live with God as with a friend. That is how saints are made. We carry our heaven about within us, since He who satisfies the glorified soul in the light of vision gives Himself to us in faith.

Jesus works miracles for His dearest friends only after He has tested their faith. He let Lazarus die, even though Martha and Mary sent word that he was sick. But after the trial, what rewards! Lazarus rises from the dead.

Then Our Lord said: “Ah, my daughter, they are few who love me in truth; for if men loved me, I should not hide my secrets from them. Do you know what is to love me in truth? It is to admit everything to be a lie which is not pleasing unto me.”

If you don't overcome your sensitivity, you will make your whole life bitter. You must not harbor in your heart those sentiments of mistrust. Do you believe that, because people go contrary to you and do not please you, they don't love you?

Forgetting yourself with respect to your health does not mean neglecting to take care of yourself, for that is your duty and the best of penances, but do it with great abandonment, saying 'thank you' to God no matter what happens. When your soul is burdened and fatigued by the weight of your body, do not be discouraged, rather go by faith and love to Him who said 'Come to me and I will refresh you.' As for your spirit, never let yourself be depressed by the thought of your sufferings.

Believe me – to write books of piety, to compose sublime poems, all this is not worth as much as the smallest act of renunciation.

Be very attentive to His voice, and remember that when He thus takes His place in a heart, it is to dwell there alone and apart. You understand what I mean...I am not referring to the religious life, which is the great break with the world, but to that detachment, that purity of intention which, as it were, throws a veil over all that is not God and enables us to cling to Him unceasingly by faith.

In spite of all her wisdom she (Mary) asked the angel: How can this be? But after he answered. The Holy Spirit will come upon you; the power of the Most High will overshadow you, she engaged in no further discussion. As one who had such great faith and wisdom, she understood at once that if these two intervened, there was nothing more to know or doubt.

Live in faith and hope even though you are in darkness, for in this darkness God enfolds the soul. Cast your cares upon God, for you are His, and He will never forget you.

Only by means of faith in divine light exceeding all understanding does God manifest Himself to the soul. The more intense a man's faith, the closer is His union with God.

A Praise of Glory is a soul ever gazing upon God in faith and simplicity. It reflects all that He is; it is like a fathomless abyss into which He may flow and overflow; it is also like a crystal through which He can shine and behold His perfections and His own splendor. A soul that thus allows the Divine Being to satisfy in it His need to communicate all that He is and all that He has, is truly the Praise of Glory.

He who in blind faith no longer desires anything in so far as God wills it, has at last reached the highest stage attainable by man supported by the grace of God.
