Courage then, O soul most beautiful! You now know that your Beloved dwells hidden within your own breast. Endeavor therefore to be truly hidden with Him.

Silence and solitude are brother and sister who hold hands and gently help each other.

Take advantage of your solitude to recollect yourself with God. While your body is resting, think how He is rest for your soul.

Lonely valleys are quiet, pleasant, cool, shady and flowing with fresh waters; in the variety of their groves and in the sweet song of the birds, they afford abundant recreation and delight...and in their solitude and silence they refresh and give rest. These valleys are what my Beloved is to me.

There is no companionship which affords comfort to the soul that longs for God; indeed, until she finds Him everything causes greater solitude.

Through the centuries, the visible events of the Church's history are always prepared in the silent dialogues of souls consecrated with His Blood.

Take advantage of your solitude to recollect yourself with God.  While your body is resting, think how He is rest for your soul.

These persons know only their own misery and keep it so much in sight that they have no opportunity to watch anyone else's conduct. David while in this night gives an admirable manifestation of such a state of soul: I became dumb, and was humbled, and I kept silent in good things, and my sorrow was renewed [Ps. 39:2].

The very pure spirit does not meddle with exterior attachments or human respect, but it communes inwardly with God, alone and in solitude as to all forms, and with delightful tranquility, for the knowledge of God is received in divine silence.

I have found heaven on earth, since heaven is God, and God is in my soul. My mission in heaven will be to draw souls,
helping them to go out of themselves to cling to God, with a spontaneous, love-filled action, and to keep them in that
great interior silence which enables God to make his mark on them, to transform them into himself.

The Redemption was decided in the eternal silence of the divine life and in the hiddenness of the tranquil dwelling of Nazareth; the power of the Holy Spirit overshadowed the Virgin while she was praying alone, and it brought about the Incarnation of the Redeemer.

There is no way to catch in words the sublime things of God...The appropriate language for the person receiving these favors is that he understand them, experience them within himself, enjoy them, and be silent.
