The devil does a great deal to incapacitate us when he sees a little fear.

To reach something good it is very useful to have gone astray, and thus to have acquired experience.

Contemplation is nothing else but a secret, peaceful, and loving infusion of God, which, if admitted, will set the soul on fire with the spirit of love.

For, after all the efforts of the soul, it cannot by its unaided labors make itself fitted for union with God in love.  God must take it to Himself into His own hands and purify it in the dark fire.

If you know how to accept the trials, worries, sufferings, and fatigue arranged by God throughout the days and hours of life, you will practice a lot of asceticism, and you will not have to look for more of it.

The things of the soul must always be considered as plentiful, spacious, and large; to do so is not an exaggeration.

The soul, in the courage of its love, glories in what ministers to the Beloved, in that it has done anything for Him, and is lost to the things of the world.

We can do this much; endeavor to conform ourselves to Christ Crucified.

Whoever lives in the presence of so good a friend and excellent a leader as is Jesus Christ can endure all things. Christ helps us and strengthens us and never fails; he is a true friend...What more do we desire from such a good friend at our side, who will not abandon us in our labors and tribulations, as friends in the world do. Blessed is the one who truly loves him and keeps him near.

The bridal union of the soul with God is the goal for which she was created, purchased through the cross, consummated on the cross, and sealed for all eternity with the cross.
